In an act of pure coincidence, Glee had planned to air a cover of Whitney Houston’s iconic song “I Will Always Love You” (as performed by Amber Riley) on their Valentine’s Day episode “Heart”. Now the show’s producers announce that they will dedicate Tuesday’s episode to Houston, and end the show with a card honoring the singer, who reportedly passed away on Saturday from a combination of prescription pills.

“It’s a really crazy coincidence,” Glee‘s music producer Adam Anders told Entertainment Weekly at the Grammy Awards. “We are shell-shocked. I was talking to Amber last night and she was really in a daze about it. It really flipped her out. She just met her on Thursday. Whitney had a huge impact on her.”

Listen to Amber’s cover of Whitney’s song (which was originally written and recorded by Dolly Parton). How does it compare to Jennifer Hudson’s moving performance from the Grammy Awards?
