It’s been seven days since the death of Monkees singer Davy Jones, and it’s reported that the singer’s funeral is to take place today. An autopsy conducted last week showed that Jones, who was 66 when he died, suffered a severe heart attack at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29. The singer was found while tending to his horses near his home in Indiantown, Florida and rushed to the Martin Memorial South Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Last night the Hollywood Reporter relayed that a source told the publication Jones’ funeral would take place today. Meanwhile, today People confirms a report that first surfaced via TMZ that the singer/actor’s body will be cremated. “The musician’s rep, who confirmed the cremation, says memorial plans are still up in the air for Jones,” the magazine notes.

Jones got his showbiz start by acting in the English soap Coronation Street and taking the stage in London and New York productions of Oliver! in the early 1960s. He found worldwide success as a member of pop band The Monkees, who starred in a TV series of the same name from 1965 to 1968.

Since the singer’s death a week ago, the collection The Best Of The Monkees surged in sales on iTunes, while the band’s former three chart-topping singles, “Daydream Believer”, “I’m A Believer” and “Last Train To Clarksville”, also rose up the digital store’s Top Songs roundup.
