Madonna’s ‘MDNA’ Tracks “Best Friend” & “I F*cked Up”: Listen

Madonna’s MDNA tracks continue to surface in the leadup to next Monday’s (March 26) official album release. The latest two to pop up are the deluxe edition songs “I Fucked Up” and “Best Friend”. Madge, whose immense catalog of classic music videos we’re currently highlighting in our special Madonna March Madness game, appears lyrically reflective on both. But rather than live in regret, Her Madgesty takes the lessons from her mistakes. Listen below. “Your picture’s off my wall, but I’m still waiting for your call / and every man that walks through that door will be compared to you forevermore,” Madonna sings on “Best Friend”. Like many MDNA tracks we’ve heard so far, this one seems to make lyrical reference to one of the Queen Of Pop’s older songs — particularly the Erotica track “Waiting”.

Musically, we’re loving the blend of staccato synths with the hip hop beat in the Benassi brothers/Demolition Crew production.

Like “Give Me All Your Luvin'” and “I Don’t Give A”, Madge teams up with producer Martin Solveig for the lush ballad “I Fucked Up”. We can actually hear this as a later (maybe fourth or fifth) single off the album (perhaps with a radio friendly version – “I Screwed Up”?).

“I’m so ashamed, you’re in so much pain, I blamed you when things didn’t go my way,” Madge sings here. She also makes reference to Confessions On A Dancefloor single “Sorry” by singing, “I’m sorry, je suis désolée.” Awww — chin up, girl.

What do you think of these latest offerings from MDNA? Do they have you putting the album on your shopping list for next week?
