If you’ve been wondering how M.I.A. did all those mind-blowing car stunts so well in her latest video, “Bad Girls”, you’re in luck. Vice has released a fascinating 13-minute behind-the-scenes look at the soon-to-be author‘s music video shoot. Below hear from the rapper herself, as well as director Romain Gavras, on the inspiration behind the drifting, donuts and skating tricks seen in the clip.

M.I.A. – “Bad Girls” (Official Behind The Scenes)

M.I.A. explains that inspiration for the women in the video came from an “Iranian chick” she once saw driving a truck while covered up. As for the car racing, it was the result of videos online of teens in the Middle East taking their parents cars and doing insane drifting tricks.

At least we know there’s one person the rapper won’t be starting a Twitter feud with anytime soon. On working with the Super Bowl performer, Gavras gushed:

“A lot of pop artists claim to be crazy. But it’s fake craze. [M.I.A.] on the other hand — she’s crazy. She’s the only female artist with this natural panache that comes across as effortless. She invests herself fully in projects that no one believes in. Creatively, no other contemporary pop artists are as interesting as she is.”

Is there any way to top “Bad Girls”?  Romain claims to do so, the next music video would need to be shot on the moon — with hookers. But if anyone were to do it, we imagine M.I.A. would be the one.
