Rumors have been floating for quite some time that Adele will record the theme song for the next James Bond movie, Skyfall (out in theaters November 9, 2012). Now the Grammy-winning singer has all but confirmed this, as she recently revealed in an interview that she’ll have a new single out by year’s end — but we’ll have to wait awhile longer for a full album.

“There will be a new song that will be coming out at the end of the year,” she said during an interview with French radio’s NRJ. As far as completing an entire album’s worth of songs, the Brit singer says it will be at least two years. “If I didn’t write my own songs, I’d be out next week with a new album. Because I write my own songs, I have to take time and live a little bit. There were a good two years between my first and second albums, so it’ll be the same this time.”

Adele added that she isn’t concerned about recreating the success of her sophomore album, 21, which spent 23 non-consecutive weeks in the top spot on the charts. “I don’t think I’ll feel the pressure for the next album to be as big as the last one because I know that’s not really possible,” she said. “What’s happened with this album is very rare anyway.”

The last James Bond theme, “Another Way To Die”, was recorded by Jack White and Alicia Keys for the 2008 film Quantum Of Solace. Madonna, Garbage and Tina Turner have also released themes for the franchise in past years.
