Week after week, fun.‘s “We Are Young” continues to flex its alt-pop crossover muscle. Whether it be the cast of Glee covering the song, appearing in a Super Bowl car ad or expertly blocking ‘s “Boyfriend” from topping the Hot 100, the trio’s Janelle Monae-featuring hit single has been #1 for six weeks — the longest stretch atop the Hot 100 this year so far — and it shows no signs of slowing down. Billboard reports that “We Are Young” is now the first song ever to rack up six weeks of 300,000 or more in digital sales. (Over the previous week alone, it sold 390,000.) Likewise, the song has now crossed 3 million paid downloads, which is pretty amazing when you consider that it’s only April, and 2011’s top tune, ‘s “Rolling In The Deep”, sold 5.8 million by year’s end. It’s an impressive way to kickstart a career, but can the band will keep the momentum going after this single?
