Lionel Richie Owes IRS $1.1 Million, Faces Losing Ceiling To Dance On
Lionel Richie has been steadily working as one of the world’s top recording stars for the past five decades, but the 62-year-old “Say You, Say Me” crooner reportedly owes a whopping $1.1 million to the IRS in unpaid income taxes for the year 2010. (Insert “hello, is it me you’re looking for” joke here.) E! News says it obtained documents supporting the claim, and goes on to note Richie has been hit with a lien, meaning the federal government has the right to seize his assets if he doesn’t pay his owed taxes in a timely manner. This could explain why the singer, who just released his album Tuskegee, performed at South By Southwest, recently appeared on The Voice and is due to star on upcoming series Duets, has been back to the grind with such fervor lately.
