Phillip Phillips Leaves Hospital After Kidney Surgery

Four days after undergoing six-and-a-half-hours of kidney surgery, American Idol winner Phillip Phillips was released from the hospital on Sunday (June 10). While he’s currently recovering well, TMZ reported that a stent that was placed in his kidney in order to remove the stones that were bothering him all season was left in too long and became embedded in his body. A laser was then used to remove it.

Considering Phillips had to deal with these problems (and eight other surgeries) through this season of American Idol, we knew he would pull through. He is currently recuperating in a Malibu mansion owned by one of the show’s execs.

“I’m out of the hospital and back to work!” Phillips told E! News. “Looking forward to the future.”

Doctors say the “Home” singer should be in good shape for the American Idols Live tour, which kicks off in Detroit on July 6.
