Maroon 5’s “One More Night”: Listen To Their New Single

Maroon 5 unleashed their lead Overexposed single “Payphone” two months ago, and though it’s been both a chart and radio force since then, the Wiz Khalifa-featuring hit has been stuck at #3 on the Hot 100 for weeks, held off by the dominance of Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know” and Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe”.

So perhaps Adam Levine and the gang will fare even better with the second single from their upcoming fourth LP? Head below to hear the reggae-infused “One More Night”, and see if the song has what it takes to become M5’s first chart-topper since “Moves Like Jagger”.

Maroon 5 — “One More Night”

“Try to tell you no but my body keeps on telling you yes,” Levine sings on this lament over not being able to resist the sexy charms of an addictive babe. He also makes references to going “hard” and getting “sick”.

On one hand, the employment of these slang terms du jour seem a bit of out of character for the Cali band. But then again, this album (out June 26) is exec-produced by Max Martin — so say hello to the new, (even more so) commercially-viable Maroon 5.

As the main melodic hook, Levine’s “ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh” vocals are Auto-Tune-filtered and looped atop the reggae synths. Does it prove to be as catchy as the whistling in “Moves Like Jagger” or the rapping by Wiz in “Payphone”? Only time — and the fickle iTunes-downloading public — will tell.
