Andre 3000 Will Cover Everything But Jimi Hendrix Songs In Jimi Hendrix Biopic

Andre 3000‘s upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is By My Side, hit a pretty huge hurdle when Jimi Hendrix’s estate, Experience Hendrix LLC, prohibited the film from using any of the late rocker’s music or compositions. You might think that would stop production — including a legendary musician’s songs seems pretty non-negotiable when documenting the life of said musician — but instead, the film will feature new recordings of Andre performing songs by The Beatles, Muddy Waters, and more.

The Outkast artist has recorded new versions of covers Hendrix performed between 1966 and 1977, the years Hendrix lived in London crafting his album Are You Experienced. Covers include The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, The Troggs’ “Wild Thing”, Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog”, Muddy Waters’ “Mannish Boy” and Elmore James’ “Bleeding Heart”, among others.
