Muse‘s “Survival” has been named the official song of the London 2012 Olympic Games, and now the operatic tune has an official video. The British band doesn’t appear in the clip, but that’s because the real stars here are the athletes. Comprised entirely of past footage from the games reaching as far back as the 19th century, we see the diligence, the frustration and the triumph that takes place while competiting in the Olympics. “It’s a race, but I’m gonna win,”  sings frontman Matthew Bellamy as competitors like swimming champ Michael Phelps give it their all and go for the gold.

“Survival”, which was written with the Olympics in mind, will be played throughout the broadcast of the games. It also appears on Muse’s new album, The 2nd Law, which will be released on September 18.
