We were 99% sure that Lady Gaga had revealed the name of her new album upon revealing her newest tattoo, and Mother Monster confirmed the title of her follow-up to Born This Way with a simple tweet.  “Make sure when writing about my new album/project ARTPOP that you CAPITALIZE the title, *its all in the details*,” the singer tweeted on Sunday (August 5).

The pop star hasn’t elaborated on why she chose ARTPOP as her album title, but we’re pretty sure it has something to do with pop art legend Andy Warhol, who has influenced Gaga’s style and music throughout her entire career. “Warhol said art should be meaningful in the most shallow way,” Gaga has said of Warhol. “He was able to make commercial art that was taken seriously as fine art … [and] that’s what I’m doing, too.”

ARTPOP is expected to drop “before spring” 2013, with the first single due before the end of this year. One of the possible tracks on the LP could be “Princess Die”, a suicide-themed song inspired by the late Princess of Wales that Gaga premiered live back in June during her Born This Way Ball tour stop in Australia.

Do you like Gaga’s new album title, or do you wish she’d go back to the drawing board?  Let us know what you think on Facebook, Twitter, or in the comments below.
