Muse’s “The 2nd Law – Unsustainable”: Listen To Their Dubstep Song

After going for the gold with their Olympic song “Survival”, Muse get a dose of elecontronic grit in their dubstep-influenced track “The 2nd Law – Unsustainable”, off their upcoming album The 2nd Law (out October 2).

In the accompanying video, we see flashes of the world in crisis as the song — which was first previewed in the band’s album trailer they debuted last month — begins with frenetic strings and an operatic choir. The dubstep takes 90 seconds to kick in, when an angry, red-eyed robot appears, repeating “Unsustainable” as wickedly as possible. Frontman Matthew Bellamy eventually joins in, singing wordlessly over the relentless synths and wub-wub-wubs.

“The 2nd Law – Unsustainable” might incorporate new sounds for the band, but its melodramatic tone and epic sound are standard for Muse. We doubt this will become an official single, though you’re sure to hear it ad naseum at any upcoming raves you might be attending.
