Alphabeat Splash Out New Single “Love Sea”: Listen

Following Alphabeat‘s tease of a short clip of new single “Love Sea” the other week — where it became apparent that the chorus resembles that of Whitney Houston‘s ’80s classic “How Will I Know” — the full song was put online today. And surprise — not only does “Love Sea” mine vintage Whitney, the intro to the giddy pop track also has flourishes of The Who‘s rock staple “Baba O’Riley”. (Great timing, considering Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend knocked that one out during the London Olympics closing ceremony last night.)

None of this is to take away from the fact that, of course, the Danish band make “Love Sea” their own by putting their trademark stamp of upbeat melodies and a hum-along chorus on the tune. This serves as the second single from Alphabeat’s upcoming third album Express Non-Stop (due out overseas on September 24), and you can give it a spin below.
