Carly Rae Jepsen has the longest reigning single of 2012 with “Call Me Maybe”, which is a big enough smash to make her sophomore album, Kiss, a surefire hit. As to whether her LP can best Wiz Khalifa‘s O.N.I.F.C., The KillersBattle Born, Pink‘s The Truth About Love, Kreayshawn‘s Somethin’ Bout Kreay, and Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer (as well as the 50 billion other albums released that day) and top the Billboard Album charts its first week out, we’ll see!

The 26-year-old released the cover of her new record, and opposed to the sepia-esque cover art of her previous LP, Tug Of War (which featured Carly staring off seriously at something a way’s away), this one basks in its pop sensibility, favoring pastels and a clear, classic shot of its star. We’re also relieved that Jepsen was somehow spared puckering up for the camera — we thank everyone involved for sidestepping that obvious shot to tie-in with the album title.
