Green Day Hang With Groupies In Their “Oh Love” Video

Green Day stopped by MTV today to premiere the video for their lead ¡Uno! single, “Oh Love”, and though the band members describe the concept of the video as the “tension between your heart and other parts of your body”, we think it’s an example of how not to behave at a Green Day show. In the clip, Billie Joe Armstrong & Co. play in a dilapidated rehearsal space for a clique of heavily tattooed, bored-looking, lethargic models, who give the Bay Area band the bare minimum of attention. Good thing this isn’t a reflection of a real Green Day concert, as these these disinterested models would surely get trampled in the mosh pit.

The video was directed by Samuel Bayer, who helmed each of the band’s videos from their American Idiot era (as well as their live concert DVD Bullet In A Bible). Bayer also directed the video for the band’s next single, “Kill The DJ”, which MTV briefly previewed during their live chat with the band following the premiere of their “Oh Love” clip. (What to expect in the “Kill The DJ” vid? Lasers, namely.)

The pop-punk band has also been added to the lineup of performers for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Their high-profile set will mark their fifth time performing at the VMAs, trailed only by Madonna‘s seven VMA performances.

“Oh Love” is the first single off Green Day’s upcoming trilogy, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tre!.
