Shanell’s “Touch Me Daddy” Video: Idolator Premiere

Shanell is no stranger to a sexy club burner — in fact, her recent mixtape, Nobody’s Bitch, is full of them. That said, she’s especially provocative in the video for her standout track “Touch Me Daddy,” and it’s a good look for her. The R&B multi-hyphenate, signed to Lil Wayne‘s Young Money Entertainment, has already collaborated with hip hop luminaries like Drake, Nicki Minaj and (of course) Weezy himself. But her solo sound is unusually self-assured, and all eyes are on Shanell in the new clip for “Touch Me Daddy,” premiering exclusively on Idolator.

The DJ Carnage-produced track is a gem, a pulsating banger with a lush ’90s house loop and a euphoric dance break that seamlessly straddles dance, pop and hip-hop. Accordingly, the video is equally rich with imagery that puts a dark twist on childhood motifs: A rocking horse, stuffed animals and bobbing for apples are placed in a sexy new context. Boundary-testing? Definitely. And that’s a good thing.
