‘The X Factor’ Rebounds In Ratings After Lackluster Debut

Despite opening with disappointing ratings during last week’s (September 12) premiere, The X Factor may be on its way to rebounding significantly — especially now that it’s not facing Wednesday night competition from The Voice. With Britney Spears and Demi Lovato at the judges’ table once more, audiences took a chance on FOX’s revamped talent competition, buoying the episode to the top of the ratings. HitFix reports that Wednesday’s (September 19) two-hour episode notched 8.19 million viewers in its first hour and 10.56 million in its second, averaging a 3.5 rating among adults 18-49.

Even if they aren’t the stellar ratings that producers had anticipated, this week suggests that, without NBC positioning The Voice in direct opposition to it, The X Factor might not take quite as much of an ongoing beating. Whether the show will produce any significant talent though — that still remains to be seen.
