Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong entered rehab Tuesday (September 25), according to Celebuzz. The singer reportedly had been sober for a year before drinking heavily in Las Vegas the night of his band’s appearance at the iHeart Radio festival. That performance was capped off by an expletive-filled rant from Armstrong, during which he smashed his guitar before flipping the bird and walking off stage.

Green Day on September 23 issued a statement that apologized for the rant and revealed Armstrong was seeking treatment for substance abuse. The ex-wife of drummer Tre Cool has since said Armstrong is doing OK and is in rehab “with his family by his side.” Here’s hoping the singer gets the help he needs and can eventually enjoy the release of their new album ¡UNO!.
