Coldplay’s “Hurts Like Heaven” Video: Watch The Comic Book-Themed Clip

Look — we’d be lying if we said we completely understood what’s going on in Coldplay‘s video for their new single “Hurts Like Heaven,” but then again, we’re not exactly fluent in comic book. The clip doesn’t feature any of the guys from Coldplay at all; instead, it’s a vividly rendered animation that serves to promote the band’s six-part comic book series, now slated for a February 2013 release.

Billboard explains that the series, titled Mylo Xyloto (like the band’s most recent studio album), tells the story of “two graffiti artists who fall in love in a time of war — or at least, oppression, at the hands of the evil Major Minus and his army of Silencers. Before their explosion of colors is wiped away by the Silencers, the graffiti artists inspire a little boy (named Mylo!) to take up their cause.” “Hurts Like Heaven” may not have as many familiar faces as their Rihanna-assisted “Princess of China,” but it’s just as lush.
