President Obama On Nicki Minaj & Mariah Carey Feud: They Can “Sort It Out”

Concerned with issues of national security? So is President Barack Obama — in particular, the ongoing drama that exploded a few weeks back between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on American Idol. But if you think Obama is taking a strong stance during this already-polarized election season, rest assured that he handled it with characteristic diplomacy.

When the POTUS appeared on Michael Yo‘s radio show, Yo led with the important question — the question on the minds of all Americans. “Can you repair the relationship with Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on American Idol?” Yo asked. Read on to see Obama’s response and listen to the interview in full.

“I think that they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident,” Obama said. “I’m all about bringing people together — working for the same cause, I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they’re moving forward and not going backwards.”

And when asked which artist the President preferred, he managed to circumvent the question — but we’re guessing he’s still favoring MiMi. “Mariah, she’s actually done some events for us. I’ve gotten to know her and Nick [Cannon]. She’s a wonderful lady,” he said. “Nicki I don’t know, but I’ve got her on my iPod.”

If you need us, we’ll be enjoying the visual of Obama working out to “Beez In the Trap” for the rest of time. Hear the full interview below.
