Stream Icona Pop’s ‘Iconic’ EP

There’s a growing list of emerging electro-pop acts who have us excited about pop music’s increasing kineticism, and one group near the top of that list is Sweden’s Icona Pop. One listen through the duo’s Iconic EP — which was released today (October 16) and is streaming below — and you’ll understand why they’re on our list of acts to catch at CMJ Music Marathon 2012. Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt mix the aggressive with the melodic, taking grinding synths, chugging industrial fuzz and thumping crescendos and then blanketing it all in a girly pop energy. It’s cotton candy churned with a buzzsaw.

We’ve already highlighted cuts from the EP like “Ready For The Weekend,” but now you can hear the whole six-track collection.

What do you think of the duo’s hyper-pop? Let us know in the comments, or sound off on Facebook and Twitter.
