Jason Aldean’s ‘Night Train’ Bumps Mumford & Sons’ ‘Babel’ From Top Of Album Chart
After three weeks at #1 on the Billboard Top 200, Mumford & Sons‘ Babel finally takes a tumble (down to #2), courtesy of the arrival of Jason Aldean‘s mighty Night Train. The country crooner’s fifth LP sold 409,000 copies in its opening week, making it the second-biggest debut for an album in 2012 — behind, of course, Mumford’s Babel, which entered with 600,000 copies sold earlier this month.
So congrats, Jason! Still, though, no Kelly Clarkson duet this time around? Boooo!
Behind Aldean, Brandy goes in at #3 with her sixth LP Two Eleven (65,000), while 2011 American Idol winner Scotty McCreery debuts at #4 with holiday offering Christmas With Scotty McCreery (41,000). And following Aldean and McCreery, Jamey Johnson makes the third country singer to debut within the Top 10 this week, as his fifth album Living For A Song: A Tribute To Hank Cochran (32,000) arrives at #5.
Despite all this activity, it’s really the calm before the storm that is Taylor Swift‘s juggernaut Red, which is set to make a massive splash on the Top 200 seven days from now. Are you one of the million who have bought a copy?
