Hurricane Sandy Telethon Raises $23 Million For Relief Efforts

Big ups to Christina Aguilera and everyone else who participated in Friday night’s Hurricane Sandy telethon: The broadcast helped raise nearly $23 million for relief efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy, reports USA Today. “We are incredibly grateful and humbled by this outpouring of support for those who are suffering as a result of Superstorm Sandy,” a spokesperson for the American Red Cross said in a statement. “Our preliminary results of nearly $23 million raised are an extraordinary example of how the American people pull together in times of disaster. Their generous donations will go directly to those in need, and we urge the public to continue to give.” The telethon featured performances from Aguilera, Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. BligeStingAerosmith and Bruce Springsteen.
