Lil Wayne Loses ‘The Carter’ Lawsuit To The Tune(chi) Of $2 Million

Lil Wayne has lost his lawsuit against The Carter filmmaker Quincy Jones III. Weezy sued the documentary’s producers for unauthorized use of Tha Carter III music, and claimed the doc was a “scandalous portrayal” of him. The loss surely stings, but the real damage comes from the countersuit that Tunechi also lost. Jones claimed that the rapper limited the film’s profit potential by blocking its release, and the jury ordered Wayne to pay him $2.195 million. Weezy never appeared in court for the civil trial, partly because he was prohibited from flying after suffering seizure-like symptoms on two recent flights. But based on his absurd deposition and the resultant verbal smackdown from the judge, that absence may have actually helped Weezy’s case.
