Mariah Carey’s “Bring It On Home”: Hear The Patriotic Song

The results of last night’s presidential election didn’t feel entirely real until Mariah Carey released a novelty patriotic single in honor of Barack Obama‘s victory, right? MiMi gave fans an unexpected surprise last night by dropping a new song to celebrate the President’s win at the polls, “Bring It On Home,” her first release since this summer’s underwhelming “Triumphant (Get ‘Em).” In short: She emancipated America, y’all.

“Bring It On Home” is exactly what you’d expect from a Mariah Carey victory anthem: Sweet, soulful, with a nice throwback ’90s sound. Tinkling piano lead into a gospel-inflected chorus: “Bring it on home, you can bring it home / Bring it on home, I know we gon’ bring it home.” The song, produced by Jermaine Dupri, was first performed at an Obama fundraiser over the summer; here, the studio version provides a fine stopgap as we wait for MiMi’s next album — or at least some American Idol drama. Listen to the tune below.
