Back in August we heard that Beyonce would be directing and producing a film about her life and career, and now the documentary has a home at HBO. Bey took to Facebook today (November 26) to let her fans know the still-untitled documentary will premiere February 16 on the premium cable network. The film will provide “raw, unprecedented access to the private entertainment icon and high-voltage performances,” giving “a multi-faceted portrait of the 16-time Grammy Award-winning singer, businesswoman, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, wife and mother, showing off the extraordinary gifts that have made her a global phenomenon, and stripping away the veneer of stardom.”

The doc will include first-person footage (some shot by Bey herself) and home videos from her Houston childhood. “Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming,” said the singer. Her transition into motherhood after the birth of Blue Ivy will play a prominent part in the narrative, and while there was no mention of husband Jay-Z in the press release, we’re sure he’ll have a role as well.
