Nicki Minaj Feudwatch 2012: Twitter Beef With Steven Tyler
Multi-talented rapstress/incredibly likable and down-to-earth human Nicki Minaj is at it again! Following last month’s memorable throwing of shade like confetti at Mariah Carey, Barbara Walters and pretty much everyone who dared to cross the “Va Va Voom” songbird, Minaj had another opportunity for a Twitter takedown after former American Idol judge Steven Tyler had some admittedly unkind things to say about her judging talents.
When MTV News asked about the feud between Minaj and Carey, Tyler went off on a rant about how the judges should be working together to create a “camaraderie,” not tension. It was a typically harmless Tyleresque ramble that hit a bum note when Tyler said of Minaj’s discriminating eye: “If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield!” Uh-oh.
But rather than doing what most people do — which is laughing it off and saying, “Oh, that Steven Tyler, he’s such a weird, goofy old bat!” — Minaj fired back with her own rampage on Twitter (which is a thing that exists on those moon-boxes that Steven Tyler doesn’t know how to use), and another feud was born. This one, though, was made all the richer because it erupted between, um, the two most lucid and level-headed people in the entertainment industry. Here’s how it went down:1. Nicki Minaj doesn’t seem to realize is that Steven Tyler has never seen anyone judge a contestant, because Steven Tyler never has any idea where he is.
Steven Tyler said I would have sent Bob Dylan to a cornfield??? Steven, you haven’t seen me judge one single solitary contestant yet!

2. Nicki Minaj not-at-all-passive-aggressively points out that she now has Steven Tyler’s job, which is what we in the industry call “taking the high road.”
I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers. I haven’t done anything to you. That’s a racist comment — Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) November 26, 2012
3. Nicki Minaj makes a racism accusation, but more importantly, she suggests that Steven Tyler both go fuck himself and worry about himself — like, what, simultaneously?
You assume that I wouldn’t have liked Bob Dylan??? why? black? rapper? what? go fuck yourself and worry about yourself babe. — Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) November 26, 2012
4. Nicki Minaj might have better luck if it were, instead of a shirt, a beaded tunic with an elegant suede fringe. (That’s more Tyler’s style.)
LOL lets make him a shirt that says “No Coloreds Allowed” then escort him down 2 Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened w/guns
— Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) November 26, 2012
5. Nicki Minaj shows a sophisticated understanding of the circle of life.
When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule thenext judge.

There’s no arguing that Tyler’s comment was out of line, but Minaj’s reaction might have been a little extreme — and while it’s too early to declare a winner, we’re pretty sure this is Minaj’s fight to lose, after reading Tyler like that. Whether he’ll notice, though, is another issue entirely.
Did Nicki take it too seriously or was she totally justified in calling Steven out? Sound off in the comments, then let us know on Facebook and Twitter.
