Mexican Singer Jenni Rivera Dies In Plane Crash

News broke over the weekend that the Latina singer Jenni Rivera, a huge star in Mexico, was missing after her private plane dropped out of contact just outside of Monterrey this weekend; now, Billboard confirms that the singer died in the crash. She was 43.

Rivera was known for her flamboyant personality and impressive vocal chops. Having sold over 20 million records, including 1.2 million in the United States, Rivera was also the recipient of several Latin Grammy nominations, and had recently signed a deal with ABC to star in her own sitcom, Jenni. She is survived by her five children, parents and five siblings. Authorities have not yet released more details about the crash.
