Did you know that One Direction‘s “Kiss You” video is coming soon? You probably did! The stork is bringing it sometime today, this hallowed day of January 7, and as we sit on our hands all pins-and-needles with flushed-cheek anticipation, waiting for all those cute outfits and impish smiles to fill our hearts with joy, we’re scrounging for any last detail we can find about the upcoming clip to whet our appetites.

And ahoy, what’s that? A new interview with the video’s director, Vaughan Arnell! The filmmaker, who directed the last two 1D videos as well (for “Live While We’re Young” and “Little Things”), said that it’s a whole new direction (!), calling it a “departure” for them. “I think it’s as you’ve never seen the boys before, kind of studio-based. I wouldn’t say comedy, it’s all tongue-in-cheek,” he told MTV.

So what makes this one different? “[I]n the past, the boys have always been outside, it’s always been kind of quite location-based, and this is the first studio-based idea I’ve done with them,” Arnell explained. “And as a tease you’re going to see them dressed as Hollywood [stars], you’re going to see them dressed as ’50s sailors, you got the boys surfing. There’s a lot going on in this one…it’s as you’ve never seen the boys before.”

And there you have it, folks. It’s as you’ve never seen them before. Clear your schedule for the rest of the day: There’s going to be a lot of shaking and crying.
