Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson To Perform At President Obama’s Second Inauguration

That big Beyonce comeback at the Super Bowl we’ve all been waiting for is kicking off a little early: Bey has been tipped to sing the National Anthem at President Barack Obama‘s second inauguration on the steps of the U.S. Capitol come January 21. No big deal. The friendship between B and the POTUS has been well-documented — she advocated heavily for him during his re-election campaign — so it should come as no surprise to hear that she was invited back for another gig; as MTV News notes, she memorably performed Etta James‘ “At Last” during the first dance at Obama’s Neighborhood Inaugural Ball in 2009.

But Beyonce isn’t the only performer taking to the steps of the Capitol — and she’ll be in fine company.

A less expected additional guest is Kelly Clarkson, who will sing “My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee” at the inauguration. Clarkson tweeted her  support for Ron Paul early in the Republican race, although she later backpedaled; clearly she’s come around to him. Also present will be James Taylor, set to perform “America the Beautiful.”

We’re feeling patriotic already. The inauguration broadcasts live on January 21.
