Alexis Jordan & J. Cole’s “Acid Rain”: Hear The Sia-Penned Dance Banger

Hey, Alexis Jordan is back! Remember her? The Roc Nation signee made a splash in 2010 with her dance hit “Happiness” (although her 2011 follow-up “Good Girl” was even better), and she’s been back in the studio working on her sophomore LP. Lo and behold, the first fruits of her labor, a new single titled “Acid Rain,” premiered yesterday (January 14) on Norwegian blog 730.no. Don’t ask why. Maybe she’s extra-famous in Norway or something. Just go with it.

Her new tune, which samples Bingo Players‘ house track “Rattle,” is extra-deserving of your attention because it was penned by Sia and produced by Stargate — that’s the same production crew that brought the world Rihanna‘s “Diamonds,” folks — and “Acid Rain” isn’t too far off from that, a big, by-the-numbers dance tune with an explosive, knock-you-off-your-feet chorus. A guest spot from rapper J. Cole feels a little perfunctory, since his typically witty rhymes don’t totally mesh with the sincerity of Jordan’s vocal performance, but hey, it’s got radio potential, and a few big club remixes could easily catapult Jordan back up to the top of the charts. Listen below.
