Britney Spears Is Somewhere On Hit-Boy’s “Scream & Shout” Remix With Lil Wayne & Diddy

When Britney Spears appeared on will.i.am‘s “Scream & Shout,” worshippers of Godney were pretty disappointed to find the singer relegated to the sidelines. For the remix, producer Hit-Boy added DiddyLil Wayne and Waka Flocka Flame to the roster, ditching the glitchy dance beat and transforming the song into a thudding crawl. Unfortunately, that all means Brit is even more of an afterthought. (Hopefully that won’t be the case for the music video, which they’re all currently filming.)

Though it’s not so great as a Britney vehicle, the remix is a pretty effective posse cut, with some of the sonic hallmarks of Hit-Boy’s beats on “Niggas in Paris” and “Backseat Freestyle.” The seemingly random grouping of MCs somehow works, with even Will forgoing his party-rap shtick and dialing into the aggro vibe. Check it out below, and Brit fans, don’t fret: Hit-Boy said himself that his work on her album will be less hip-hop, more pop.
