M.I.A.’s “Doobie”: Hear The Jittery Unreleased Track

M.I.A. collaborator Danja gave fans a surprise on Thursday (January 31) when he released a track he made with her around the time they recorded “Bad Girls.” As part of his Throwback Thursday blog series, Danja unveiled their collaboration “Doobie,” a little more than a year after “Bad Girls” popped up online.

The song finds M.I.A. rapping over a an army of bleeps and bloops, though she sings the hook (“I spy with my little eye something that can get you high”). It has definite shades of Timbaland with the jittery synth-and-snare beat. M.I.A.’s forthcoming album Matangi has been pushed back for being too positive, of all things, so maybe this is just the type of sound she’ll need on the album. Hear it below, starting at the 2:30 mark.
