Last night (February 2) in New Orleans, Justin Timberlake marked his live return, debuting two new songs and bringing out Jay-Z to perform their new single “Suit & Tie.” While suited up and backed by a 13-piece band, dubbed JT & The Tennessee Kids, Timberlake effectively rose expectations for the performances to come, and his third album The 20/20 Experience, out March 19.

This DirecTV Super Saturday night performance was Timberlake’s first live solo gig in five years. The new songs revealed that The 20/20 Experience will be more of a throwback soul affair than the retro-futurism of “Suit & Tie” initially hinted. Check out “Pusher Love Girl” above, then “Bad Girl” and “Suit & Tie” after the jump.

Timberlake will also perform at the Hollywood Palladium on Grammy night and the BRIT Awards on February 20 — high-profile shows, especially compared to his 2006 L.A.’s House of Blues gig promoting sophomore album FutureSex/LoveSounds. That, plus his newfound collaborators (Hov of course, but Beyonce and T.I.), suggest that The 20/20 Experience will be a bigger comeback than even diehard Timberlake fans could have imagined.
