BRIT Awards: Taylor Swift To Perform, Beyonce To Not Perform

The BRIT Awards are happening on February 20, and there’s an impressive talent roster lined up for the event — One Direction, Emeli Sande, Justin Timberlake, Mumford & Sons and a few others, too — but the one thing the BRITs were missing was a little Taylor Swift. Get ready for some trouble, trouble, trouble. (We mean that as a terrible play on her single “I Knew You Were Trouble,” but also literal trouble because when Swift ends up at the same awards show as Harry Styles, there’s no telling what kind of shenanigans are going down. Longing glances will be exchanged. Tears will be shed. Drinks will be thrown. Guitars will be smashed. All that stuff. Except actually, they’ll probably just be coolly civil to each other and there won’t be any drama, but wouldn’t it be awesome in a sick, schadenfreude-y way, if there were?)

Here’s the bad news: The announcement also means that Beyonce, who was reported to be the final performer at the BRITs, will not be taking the stage, since there was only one slot left. Maybe she’s too busy rendering your faves irrelevant, or perhaps her publicist is worried about more unflattering photos surfacing, or maybe the fine people of London just don’t want to lose their electricity. Either way, it’s all about Swift.

The BRITs take place on February 20.
