M.I.A.‘s long delayed, overly happy fourth album Matangi is supposed to drop on April 15. But even if it’s pushed back again, at least we’re getting some concrete details about the thing. The latest nugget of information comes care of Hit-Boy, who has become a fount of information regarding pop stars’ new records.

Hit-Boy spoke with CBS on the red carpet at the Grammys last night (February 10), and when asked about some artists he’s excited about working with, without pause he answered, “The thing I’m most excited about is M.I.A. I just did seven songs on her new album. We just locked in the studio and just vibed and we did seven incredible records.” This is great and all, but…where’s the Britney love?

Of course, Hit-Boy is also tapped to work on Britney Spears‘ next album, which he says will have a global sound. The hip-hop producer cemented his status as a force in rap last night, getting a Grammy for his writing credit on Best Rap Song winner “Niggas in Paris.” But his current collaborations with M.I.A. and Brit fit into his larger scheme to expand into the broader pop landscape. Previously he said, “I wanted to just show people that I’m not just a hip-hop producer … that I’m just a music maker in general.”
