Whatcha Say: The Grammy Awards, Justin Timberlake’s Comeback and Bieber’s Revenge Got Our Readers Talking

This week, it was all about last Sunday’s 54th Annual Grammy Awards. You loved the show! You hated the show! You had so many mixed feelings about the show! With performances by the likes of Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Justin Timberlake (oh, and some awards being handed out too), there was plenty of spectacle (and snubbing!) going on at the Grammys to keep everyone buzzing all week long.

Fresh off his don’t-call-it-a-comeback performance at the Grammys, Justin Timberlake kept the action coming later that night by releasing “Mirrors,” a brand new cut from The 20/20 Experience — which only got you guys talking more.

But Timberlake wasn’t the only Justin making headlines! Justin Bieber, who was snubbed with zero Grammys nominations (which he’s still quite pressed about), launched an all-out war with Black Keys guitarist Patrick Carney, who suggested that Bieber didn’t necessarily deserve an award that night, anyway. Who will prevail? No idea, but we’re already running for cover. Read on!

:: Naomi thought praise for Justin’s comeback was Justified, but wished the Marley tribute had more Marley on Grammy Awards: Review Revue: “Justin’s performance was by far the best. As for the show itself, it was alright. The winners were predictable as usual, which made it less interesting. I wish only Ziggy and Damien Marley were in the Bob Marley tribute. As much I like Sting and Bruno, I didn’t feel it was necessary to put them and Rihanna on the same stage.

:: Andi just plain hated everything — even the outfits: “The whole thing was just horrible. What was Justin thinking of? What a horrible comeback performance. Everything was just off. A total snub to CBS’s memo on dress code.”

:: And then Me decided to sound off against Grammy haters: “Uh, hate to break it to the usual moron fest commentators, but that was flat out the best grammy awards show in at least 35 years. Finally actual music is back, and RAP is pushed to the side for the joke it really is. Wonderful music all around and at least the saved the worst for last. Justin Timberlake stole the show with his big band. So many highlights, tough to pick just one favorite moment.”

:: And Tristan agreed, though JT didn’t quite rock his body as much: “I thought it was a great show. Classy for once. Although, I don’t get the whole Justin Timberlake fuss. Yes, he’s talented, but we’ve seen the whole black and white thing before. Bruno Mars? No comparison.”

:: When it came time to talk JT’s new song “Mirrors” on Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors”: Listen To The New Track From ‘The 20/20 Experience,’ Jay was pleased: “I like this ten times more than Suit and Tie. Thank you Timbo and JT!”

:: But Victor Atomic felt like he was cheated of a full course meal: “Just imagine the energy of these tracks with someone with a stronger range. Its like a good looking dinner but lacks flavor.”

:: Jenny Nicolli really had to agree: “Wow. This is really bad. I now realize why he took so long to record the new album; the myriad of producers and writers he used couldn’t come up with anything worthwhile.”

:: When Bieber declared war on Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, The Lady Keyster stood up in the Keys’ defense on Justin Bieber Doesn’t Deserve A Grammy Anyway, According To The Black Keys: Morning Mix: “The Keys have very true opinions about people, and if you don’t agree with them, you can go vent to your friends about it, As a Keys fan (who happens to be under the age of 20) I think the ‘geezers’ here are the biased Beiber fans who find it necessary to defend their idol with every comment hurled their way.”

:: But Belieber Angellic37 wasn’t having that: “Do you think he’s not in it for the money? They all are regardless!!! If the shoe was on the other foot & Justin had made a comment like that he would of been thrown to the dogs. The all have one common goal – to make great music, to be recognized for it & to reap the rewards that come with being a great artist.”

:: And finally, Zack Katzen made a most astute observation in the Bieber v. Black Keys case on Facebook: “I never knew the kid in the wheel chair on glee was in the Black Keys too.”
