Country Star Mindy McCready Dies
The country singer Mindy McCready, known for a string of ’90s hits and, more recently, for her troubled personal life and appearance on Celebrity Rehab, died yesterday. She was 37.
Reportedly, McCready shot and killed herself last night at her Arkansas home; her body was found on her front porch by local authorities. TMZ reports that McCready had been “a mess” for several weeks, since David Wilson, the father of her 8-month-old child, Zayne, committed suicide on January 13, but beyond that, her struggles with drug addiction, alcoholism and other public scandals were unrelenting.
She is survived by two children, Zander and Zayne — but as Popdust notes, perhaps the most haunting detail of the story is that she shot and killed her dog before turning the weapon on herself.
