Daft Punk quite literally struck Gold (certification, that is) with their 2010 soundtrack to Tron: Legacy, and fellow French act M83 has followed in the pair’s musical footsteps by teaming up with director Joseph Kosinski and crafting the score to Kosinski’s upcoming Tom Cruise-starring sci fi adventure Oblivion (in theaters April 19). M83’s main man Anthony Gonzalez worked on the film’s music with Tron: Uprising composer Jonathan Trapanese.

Though nowhere nearly as raucous as staple singles like “Kim & Jessie” or “Midnight City,” the first song from Oblivion to surface online, “StarWaves,” definitely comes packed with a few M83 hallmarks — mainly a moody, gripping atmosphere and swelling synths. Give the track a spin below.
