Snoop Lion Performs “No Guns Allowed” With A Ridiculous Microphone On ‘Conan’: Watch
Let’s say you just woke up from a 15-year coma. Or a 10-year coma. Hell, even a five-year coma. And you saw Snoop Dogg performing a song about gun control with a choir led by his daughter on a basic cable show hosted by Conan O’Brien. That would be jarring! But even if you’ve been following Snoop’s transformation into the reggae entity Snoop Lion this whole time, it’s still pretty jarring! Like, this is real. The man formerly known as Snoop Dogg sang (yes, sang) “No Guns Allowed” on Conan Monday night (March 12). And it didn’t go so well.
Look, we respect Snoop for taking a risk with this new direction. But maybe there’s a reason the Doggfather was doing fine in the industry for a couple decades without releasing an album featuring fake patois singing? The Reincarnated version of this track features Drake, which surely helps out a little, and we like the song’s message. We dig the set design, too! But even that absurdly huge bling microphone (which reads “Snoop Dogg” — Lion or Dogg, which is it, man?!) couldn’t distract from this reggae-bomination.
