Usher & Jermaine Dupri Hit The Studio Together

Usher and Jermaine Dupri are back in the studio! The duo have collaborated since Usher’s 2004 blockbuster Confessions, but that was the last time JD oversaw one of Usher’s albums. Fans and facts (it eclipsed 10 million sales) would suggest that the duo should get their working relationship back online. And today could be the day it all starts.

Perhaps inspired by Justin TimberlakeTimbaland‘s reunion, the two are “back in the lab,” based on a photo Dupri posted today (March 20) — that’s JD wearing the So So Def mascot head up top. So are they working on a new album, or a song, or are they just batting around some ideas? It’s unclear. But back in February, JD did open up about the prospect of working with Usher again, and the expectations that would come with it.

“It’s a lot riding on your back. It would have to be something me and Usher sit around and talk about because it’s not like we can just go in the studio because y’all gonna critique it against ‘Confessions,'” Dupri told The Urban Daily. “We just ain’t gonna go into the studio one day and surpass what we already did […A] lot if people don’t want that weight. I don’t mind it, but at the end of the day, Usher and I just need to have a conversation.”

So, did they have that conversation and has the weight finally been lifted?
