“Used to be the kid / now homie, I’m the man,” Wiz Khalifa raps in his new single “Let It Go,” one of a few (rare) signs in sophomore album O.N.I.F.C. that the Pittsburgh rapper thought of more than weed and money. “Impending fatherhood has not seemed to, ahem, spark Wiz’s lyrical growth,” we wrote of O.N.I.F.C., which arrived two months before Wiz and Amber Rose‘s baby Sebastian was born.

Last night (March 22), however, when he performed “Let It Go” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Wiz made clear that he has re-prioritized his life somewhat, thanks to a small but notable change to his lyrics: “I just had a kid / now homie, I’m the man.”

In “Let It Go,” Wiz vows to “make sure my family gon’ eat” — words that he’s also taken to heart, given his grind these days. Wiz performed with Akon just 24 hours after he dropped his music video for “Let It Go,” and immediately after Jay Leno, he arrived at a studio “somewhere in L.A” to record a song with Kelly Rowland.
