You Be The Judge: Musique Le Pop, “Turn To Sand”

We love music. We love pop. Surely, then, we’re here for Musique Le Pop, right?

That’s the name of the newly formed Norwegian electronica trio, formed by three musicians that hail from different indie bands, including Remington Super 60 and Safariari: There’s Betty and Christoffer from the “twee pop scene,” and Jon, who hails from the “dance music” and “indie” crowds.

After releasing their debut single “Time Changes” last year, the band returned in 2013 with their follow-up last week: “Turn To Sand,” released just ahead of their upcoming debut EP this summer.

In keeping with all things Scandinavian, there’s a decidedly ‘teardrops at the disco’ feeling that lingers throughout “Turn To Sand,” which is full of sleek ’80’s electronic pulsations, chilly vocals and a haunting sense of nostalgia. “Seems so far away/hours turn to sand, time just slips away,” Betty laments.
