For any sub-category of notable humans with above-average amounts of wealth, Forbes has written a list ranking those notable humans in order of accumulated wealth. Their latest list focuses on the five top-earning hip-hop moguls of 2013. Why only five? Well, so they can do a completely different list of the Top 10 hip-hop moguls later this year.

Diddy (Forbes helpfully informs us he “rose to mainstream fame in the late 1990s rapping about his desire for Benjamins, otherwise known as $100 bills”) is in the #1 slot here, with a net worth of $580 million. Most of that purse comes from his deal with Ciroc vodka. Jay-Z comes in at number 2 with $475M, largely from his 2007 Rocawear sale. Head below for the full list, where you’ll notice very little of the revenue is actually coming from music. But don’t worry, the Forbes team is surely working on a list of hip-hop’s top music earners as we speak.

Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Earners in 2013 1. Diddy ($580M) 2. Jay-Z ($475M) 3. Dr. Dre ($350M) 4. Birdman ($150M, actually from music stuff!) 5. 50 Cent ($125M)
