Demi Lovato’s ‘Demi’ Album Cover Art Shows The Shirtless Singer Getting Real

“You make me glow, but I cover up, won’t let is show,” Demi Lovato declares in the lyrics for her new single “Heart Attack.” But those words don’t seem to apply when it comes to the cover art for the singer/X Factor judge‘s upcoming album Demi (scheduled for a May 14 release). The full photo and title of the LP were revealed in pieces over the weekend, as Demi had her Lovatics scratch off pieces of the cover bit-by-bit on her official site.

The final reveal shows a body-paint-smudged Lovato in a provocative pose, sans shirt, with her hands on either side of her face.

Demi posing (seemingly) naked here is a bold statement for 20-year-old, who has not been shy about revealing her past issues with bulimia and addiction. We take it to mean she’s not afraid to show us all who she really is, bruises and untidy history — or, in the literal sense, smeared body paint — and all.

Bottom line, pop fanatics? This onetime Disney darling is all grown up, and we couldn’t be happier for her. Here’s hoping the music on Demi reflects her mature new stance that’s displayed out loud and proud on the album’s surface.
