Demi Lovato wears many hats — apple-cheeked X Factor judgestress, pop superstar, giver of breaks to hearts and arty silver-body-paint-smudged Lily Collins-browed sex bomb — but she juggled them all seamlessly last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where the songbird stopped by to talk about the third season of The X Factor and her upcoming fourth studio album, Demi.

Despite battling a head cold she picked up on her mini world tour, Lovato was in good spirits discussing prospects for judges on next season’s X Factor, in the wake of departures from both Britney Spears and L.A. Reid: “I would love for either Lady Gaga or Katy Perry,” she said. (Us too, Demi.)

And on the subject of that new record, she explained that it’s a little more personal (raw), even though it’s still a pop album through and through: “The album definitely has a lot of meaning to me. I relate it to a lot of personal experiences I’ve had. There’s some really awesome pop songs that are super catchy,  but at the same time there’s some more adult songs that — get your head out of the gutter! — I just speak about pretty heavy stuff that I haven’t spoken about before.”

Later, she took to Kimmel’s summer stage to perform her lead single “Heart Attack.” Watch up top, then see the second part of the interview and performance below.
