Del Marquis & Bright Light Bright Light: 5 Things You Need To Know About Slow Knights’ ‘Cosmos’

Earlier this week we brought you a clip of Scissor Sisters‘ guitarist Del Marquis and his sometimes-collaborator Rod Thomas (aka Bright Light Bright Light) sitting down with us for a game of Favorites. Naturally, we also talked to them about Del’s solo venture Slow Nights, and the recently released album Cosmos. It’s a pop-R&B hybrid that sounds straight out of 1987, and it showcases Del’s work with Prince‘s former band the New Power Generation, and vocalists such as Thomas, Xavier Smith, Chrissi Poland and Bridget Barkan.

However, Cosmos wasn’t an album that was recorded quickly. The LP, Marquis (real name: Derek Gruen) says, came together over two-and-a-half years, “in fits and bursts in between Scissors records and touring.”

Find out more about Del’s process of putting Slow Knights’ Cosmos together — as well as the concert he has slated for May 18 at Brooklyn’s Music Hall Of Williamsburg — in the video above.

Slow Knights’ Cosmos is available now on iTunes. Let us know your thoughts on the album below, or by hitting us up on Facebook and Twitter!
