The-Dream Says Beyonce Collaboration May Not Make ‘IV Play’ Due To Sample Issues

The-Dream previously revealed a few details about his collaborations with Beyonce for her forthcoming album, and the original plan was for Bey to return the favor on his new album, IV Play (out May 28). In fact, The-Dream recently invited a few music writers (including our own Sam Lansky) to a IV Play listening session, which indeed featured a song Bey-assisted song called “Fire.”

But now Dream tells Vibe their collab may not make the final cut due to some issues clearing a sample. “You might not hear [Beyonce] on the album because there’s a sample issue we’re having. We’ll be praying about that,” he said. “We could switch it up but it’s almost like this particular sample made the record. So, if it’s not right then we don’t do it. I do don’t songs ‘just because.'”

Even without Bey, the album still boasts a few of The-Dream’s pop pals, including Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland and more.
