Kanye West To Perform On ‘SNL’ Season Finale May 18

For a couple weeks there have been whispers that Kanye West would perform on Saturday Night Live‘s season 38 finale — and at one point the game of telephone concluded he’d be hosting, but anyone who saw his painfully awkward debut on Keeping Up with the Kardashians knew that wouldn’t be happening. Today (April 26), NBC has confirmed Kanye will emerge from his bunker in Paris to be the musical guest on the May 18 episode, which will be hosted by Ben Affleck.

This will be Yeezy’s fifth time performing on the show, and Affleck’s fifth time hosting. Most recently, West performed a stunning rendition of “Power” with an all-white backdrop in 2010 during his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album cycle. Usually you have an idea of what an artist is going to offer up on these TV performances, but we can honestly say we have no idea what Ye is going to do. Something from Cruel Summer? Diamond masks and straitjackets? New music? All we know is, based on his prior visits to Studio 8H, it will be a spectacle. Anyway, head below to see SNL’s tweet with the announcement.
